Description A weekly radio talk show, ninety minutes long, which we refer to as a hybrid; combining news reports, public affairs features, interviews, commentaries, radio drama and topical music. Our major interests include economic democracy, human rights, politics, and culture. Each program focuses on one or more of society’s ever-present struggles between opposing forces: management and labor, landlords and tenants, corporations and consumers, polluters and environmentalists, politicians and their constituents, media and “the truth.” Whenever possible, we search for those places where common interests can meet and resolve conflict. And we try to have some fun as well. Because as Duke Ellington once said, “it don’t mean a thing, if it aint got that swing.” Produced by Dave Goodman and Marc Stern for the Independent Broadcast Information Service. Praise

Marc Stern Professor of History and Chair of the History Department at Bentley College in Waltham, MA, my academic interests include labor history and the history of technology. http://ecampus.bentley.edu/dept/hi/fbio4.htm I received my doctorate from SUNY Stony Brook in 1986. David and I met and became friends at the university radio station, WUSB-FM.
David Goodman Clients include Pacifica Radio, Free Speech Radio News, and Workers Independent News Service. For 16 years I worked as a freelance reporter for the Pacifica National News; severing my ties in 1999 after the former Pacifica Foundation Board of Directors and former Executive Director changed the network's rules of governance and then clamped a gag order on all on-air personalities and reporters; preventing anyone from discussing the changes. Eventually, PNN went off the air , but the new Board of Directors and management staff are trying to raise money to begin other regular national newscasts or public affairs shows; a show called Informed Dissent aired in the Fall of 2006. [Currently, the "network" and affiliated stations carry Free Speech Radio News.] I've also worked for MonitoRadio, WBUR-FM, Boston, and The Somerville (MA) News. And for about ten years, was a stay-at-home parent for my son and daughter. I graduated with a BA in Political Science from SUNY Stony Brook in 1982. |
